Some Republicans have been making calls to repeal the 14th Amendment. The 14th Amendment states that "all persons born in the United States of America are citizens of the United States."  Republicans such as Rep. Phil Gingrey (R) Georgia want to revoke  the citizenship of children born in America if one of their parents are in the country illegally. Fremont, Nebraska is a small town located between Lincoln and Omaha. The biggest structure in the town seems to be a Super Walmart and there is not much to do. About ten percent of Fremont's small population are Hispanic. Recently, Fremont passed a law requiring landlords and employers to verify their tenants' or employees' citizenship. Such laws seem reasonable and should have been in place years ago. I will not question the laws but I will question the motivation. << MORE >>

A Philadelphia teacher and blogger was fired after posting an essay on her personal blog. The blog post was an opinion piece about a presentation made by one of her students. The assignment involved using Abraham Lincoln's second inaugural speech as a model to voice a point of view. The student in question used the opportunity to make a one-sided, inflammatory and illogical attack on President Obama. The oil spill is quite obviously British Petroleum's fault. BP has gone to the extreme to block media coverage of the spill and the efforts to clean it up. Obama has sent federal prosecutors to investigate the possibility of criminal charges in the fiasco. However, these investigations will probably not result in criminal convictions against BP executives because BP practically owns our government. Bristol Palin has signed a contract under which she will be paid between $15,000 and $30,000 per speech. The subject of her speeches? Abstinence and pro-life. Bristol Palin is in no way qualified to speak to teenagers about either subject. First of all, she herself does not practice abstinence. Sarah Palin told the National Rifle Association that the only thing stopping President Barack Obama and the Democratic run Congress from taking their guns away and "gutting" the Second Amendment is political fallout. Palin said this at the NRA's annual meeting held in Charlotte, North Carolina, yesterday.
